Towards the Interpretation of Utterance Sequences in a Dialogue System
Abstract:
In this talk I will describe a probabilistic mechanism for the interpretation of utterance sequences in a task-oriented domain. The
mechanism receives as input a sequence of sentences, and produces an interpretation which integrates the interpretations of individual sentences. For our evaluation, we collected a corpus of hypothetical requests to a robot, which comprise different numbers of sentences of different length and complexity. Our results are promising, but furtherimprovements are required in our algorithm.
Bio:
Ingrid Zukerman is a Professor in Computer Science at Monash University. She received her B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering and Management and her M.Sc. degree in Operations Research from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. She received her Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from UCLA in 1986. Since then, she has been working in the
Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University. Her areas of interest are discourse planning, plan recognition, question answering, and agent modeling.
