HIIT has a new Director

The Director of HIIT, Professor Heikki Mannila has been appointed Vice President of Aalto University. On the proposition of the Board of HIIT, Helsinki University of Technology and the University of Helsinki has appointed PhD, Docent Patrik Floréen as the Director of HIIT for the period 15 November 2009 - 31 July 2010. During this period, the regulations of HIIT will be updated and a new Director selected.

Patrik Floréen has worked at HIIT since 2002, lately as Chief Research Scientist. He was previously Secretary General of the Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering at the Academy of Finland, Scientific Officer at the European Commission in Brussels, and Professor at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Helsinki. Patrik Floréen leads the Adaptive Computing research group at HIIT.
