Postdoctoral position in algorithms and data analysis for data security (deadline 31 December)

A postdoctoral researcher is being recruited for a research project belonging to the Data Security workpackage of the national Future Internet initiative. The target of the project is to build a novel host-based malware-detection system based on general anomaly detection principles, in collaboration with our industrial partners. The project is also part of the Algorithmic Systems research programme of the Helsinki Institure for Information Technology HIIT.

The position is based at the TKK Department of Information and Computer Science and requires competence in algorithmics and/or data analysis. Also strong candidates from other areas of applied mathematics (stochastics, statistics, optimisation) are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be placed in TKK salary class 5 for teaching and research personnel. This entails a starting monthly salary level between € 2993.67 and € 3305.68, depending on experience and qualifications. The contract includes occupational health and social security benefits. In exceptional cases also advanced Master's level candidates may be considered, in which case the salary is determined according to the general principles of the TKK salary system for teaching and research personnel.

The initial funding period for the position is from 1 January to 31 December 2010, with a possibility for extension for another 1,5-2 years. Starting date of the contract is negotiable.
