Research Intern – Multimodal Interactive Systems

The Interactive Systems Group (University of Helsinki/HIIT) is looking for a talented intern to work within our group. Our current research focuses on novel interaction techniques, mobile interaction, multi-touch displays and crossmodal feedback through the audio and haptic modalities. The successful applicant will contribute to a research project investigating the use of mobile crossmodal interaction and interpersonal communication. The intern will be required to complete some hardware development, design and code a mobile application and assist in the users trials of the system.

The internship will take place in Helsinki from April to August (with the possibility of extending this to 6 months).

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be studying towards a Masters or PhD in computing science, electrical engineering or interactive system design.

  • Experience in interactive systems, embedded systems and sensors, HCI, and developing applications for Nokia devices would be beneficial

  • Fluent spoken and written English is essential
