HIIT at CHI 2013: An award-winning paper and several other contributions

Several HIIT researchers are presenting novel and ongoing research at the CHI 2013 conference in Paris, France, this week. HIIT contributions include two full papers, a note, and six workshop positions papers. 

• Teemu Roos, Arttu Modig and Laura Leppänen in cooperation with HIIT alumus Antti Oulasvirta are presenting a paper titled Information capacity of full-body movements. The paper is among the selected few that have been awarded a Best paper honorable mention.
• Another full paper is presented by Giulio Jacucci in cooperation with colleagues at Aalto University and Microsoft Research. The paper is titled Designing Web-Connected Physical Artefacts for the 'Aesthetic' of the Home.
• Eve Hoggan and co-authors (including Antti Oulasvirta) are presenting a note titled Multi-touch rotations: Performance and ergonomics.
• Mikael Johnson presented a position paper titled Developer–User Social Distance as a Guiding Concept for User Involvement. at the 'Made for Sharing: HCI Stories of Transfer, Triumph & Tragedy' workshop.
• Lassi Liikkanen in cooperation with Gomez Gomez presented a position paper titled Experience of Time in HCI at the 'Changing perspective of time in HCI' workshop. 
• Airi Lampinen presented a position paper titled Social Media as Personal Informatics: Empowerment through Self-Reflection at the 'Personal Informatics in the Wild: Hacking Habits for Health and Happiness' workshop. The paper is co-operative work with HIIT's Jesse Haapoja along with Johannes Koponen and Juha Leppänen from the start-up Scoopinion.
• Sameer Patil presented a position paper titled RepliPRI: Challenges in Replicating Studies of Online Privacy at the 'RepliCHI' workshop.
• Antti Jylhä and his co-authors presented position papers at two different workshops: a contribution titled I Can Hear You  -  Private, Public, and Social Sonic Interactions in Public Spaces at the ‘Experiencing Interactivity in Public Spaces’ workshop and another titled Augmenting a Persuasive Sustainable Mobility Application with Social Elements at the ‘Designing Social Media for Change’ workshop.

Furthermore, Giulio Jacucci and Sameer Patil served on the program committee of the conference. 

ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI 2013) is a premiere international conference for Human-Computer Interaction. This year's conference is held in Paris, France, April 27 - May 2 2013, with more than 3400 attendants.
