Number of European researchers got together to discuss about Future Internet Socio-Economics at ICT 2008. The networking session was organised by HIIT. ICT 2008 was Europe's biggest research event for information and communication technologies this year.

BEST MSc THESIS OF THE YEAR AWARD TO VILLE TUULOS
The Finnish Association for Mathematicians, Physicists and Computer Scientists granted the award for the best MSc thesis of the year to Ville Tuulos for his thesis "Design and Implementation of a Content-Based Search Engine".

OPEN POSITIONS – PhD STUDENTS
Applications are invited for (up to) four-year fully-funded PhD student positions. The selected students will be working on methods for learning networks and graphs from a variety of data and utilizing the found structures for visualization, explanation, and prediction. Closing date is 8 December.
