Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT, a joint unit of Helsinki University of Technology TKK and the University of Helsinki, invites applications for a fixed-term position of
PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST
for three years starting on 1 January 2009. The post may be located either at Helsinki University of Technology TKK or the University of Helsinki, and the position may also be filled on a part-time basis.
The duties of the Principal Scientist shall include serving as the Programme Director the Future Internet research programme of HIIT, preparing and coordinating its projects, developing the related cooperation networks, instructing the theses of the researchers involved in the programme and contributing to the planning and implementation of the research strategy of the institute. The research programme has activities at both HIIT universities.
Successful applicants shall have an applicable doctoral degree, scientific qualifications required of professors, teaching skills as well as experience of management and international research collaboration.
In the State Salary System (VPJ), the duties of the Principal Scientist have been placed on the job demands level 8–10 within the salary system for teaching and research staff (€ 4 082.55 – 5 200.25 a month), depending on the qualifications of the appointee. In addition, the salary includes a personal work performance component.
