12 June 11:00 Roger Wattenhofer: Sensor Networks: Where Theory Meets Practice

Professor Roger Wattenhofer, heading the Distributed Computing Group at ETH Zürich, is the opponent for MSc Jukka Suomela's PhD defence on 13 June. The day before he will give a guest talk.

Time and place:
Friday 12 June at 11-12 (note the time, one hour shift from normal HIIT
seminars!) in Exactum C222

Title:
Sensor Networks: Where Theory Meets Practice

Abstract:
Wireless sensor networks have gained an incredible research momentum.
Computer scientists and engineers of all flavors are embracing the area.
As such sensor networks are a perfect meeting place for theoreticians and practitioners, right!? In my talk I will present and discuss a few concrete examples, theory and practice, and maybe generally think aloud about theory vs. practice in computer science and engineering.
