1.6.2005: S4ALL receives TEKES/ITEA funding

The National Technology Agency TEKES awarded first-year funding for the project Services for All (E!2023 ITEA S4ALL). The project aims at a vision of a world where digital services are made available to all citizens everywhere, at any time, in any condition and by anyone. For this, it will develop new technologies for service creation, customisation, deployment and provisioning. The project belongs to the ITEA cluster of the Eureka programme; the international consortium is led by Alcatel CIT. Apart from HIIT, other Finnish members of the consortium include Nokia and Capricode.

18.2.2005: Fuego Core 2005-2007 receives TEKES funding

The National Technology Agency TEKES awarded first-year funding for the project Fuego Core 2005/2007: Future Mobile Middleware. The objective of the project is to develop middleware components for reconfigurable systems that enable adaptive, context-aware and personalized applications. The project is led by Professor Kimmo Raatikainen of the University of Helsinki and HIIT.

11.2.2005: Perttu Virtanen's doctoral dissertation

Perttu Virtanen from HIIT defended successfully his doctoral thesis in February at Lappeenranta University of Technology on the field of information law. Professor Mads Bryde Andersen from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark was the opponent and the custos was Professor Jukka Kemppinen from Lappeenranta University of Technology and HIIT. The thesis was titled Database rights in safe European home. The path to more rigorous protection of information.

12.12.2004: Giulio Jacucci's dissertation

HIIT researcher Giulio Iacucci defended succesfully his doctoral thesis Interaction as Performance: Cases of Configuring Physical Interfaces in Mixed Media in the public dissertation event at the University of Oulu. Professor Kari Kuutti acted as the custos of the event.

23.11.2004: MuseumFinland receives Prime Minister's award
