Methods for Fusing Eye Movements and Text Content for Information Retrieval of the Statistical Machine Learning and Bioinformatics group is a project funded by EU IST Programme, under the PASCAL Network of Excellency.

This project develops new kinds of information retrieval systems, by fusing multimodal implicit relevance feedback data with text content using Bayesian and kernel-based machine learning methods.

A long term goal of information retrieval is to understand the "user's intent".

Tekes Accepts Funding for the ICT SHOK Future Internet Programme

16 May 2008 - The Board of TEKES has donated first-year funding for the Future Internet (FI) programme of the Strategic Center of Excellence in Science, Technology and Innovation in ICT (Finnish acronym ICT SHOK) run by Tivit Oy.

The total volume of the work planned for the first year (1 April 2008-31 March 2009) is some 50 person-years and is expected to grow significantly in later years.

9 June at 16.00: HIIT Summer Cruise

The traditional HIIT Summer Cruise for the HIIT personnel will take place on Monday, 9 June at 16.00.

  • We meet at Helsinki Market Square (Helsingin Kauppatori) at 15.30.
  • We'll sail over the seas on m/s Doris starting at 16.00.
  • A dinner will be served.
  • The cruise will end at 19.00.
