LAILA

Laila on tietotekniikan tutkimuslaitos HIITin ja sen kumppaneiden yhteinen tutkimushanke. Hankkeen tarkoituksena on selvittää vertaisverkon käyttäjien halukkuutta laillistaa nykyinen laiton tiedostonjakelu maksamalla tekijöille tilitettäviä korvauksia.

16 June 10:00 Fabian Bohnert: Spatial Processes for Recommender Systems

Fabian Bohnert is visiting HIIT from Monash University (Melbourne,
Australia) week 25. Fabian is a PhD candidate there, see http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~fabianb/. He gives a guest talk on Tue 16 June at 10 in C222.

Title:
Spatial Processes for Recommender Systems

Abstract:

Doctoral dissertation: Optimisation problems in wireless sensor networks

Sat, 13.06.2009

13 June 2009 - Jukka Suomela defended his Doctoral Disseration on "Optimisation Problems in Wireless Sensor Networks: Local Algorithms and Local Graphs" on 13 June. Some computational problems related to communication networks can be solved by using a "local algorithm": each computer operates using only information in its immediate surroundings. The thesis presents the best possible local algorithms for some resource-allocation problems.
