La ricerca sullo schermo Multitouch dell' Helsinki Institute for Information Technology è stata premiata al CHI 2008, principale conferenza scientifica sulla Human-computer interaction. Il SIGCHI "Best of CHI 2008" ha inserito l'articolo dell'HIIT tra i "Best of CHI". Solamente il 5% di tutte le presentazioni della conferenza ha ricevuto questa nomina di onoreficienza.
Suomalainen jättimäisiä kosketusnäyttöjä koskeva tutkimus on saanut kansainvälisen tunnustuksen. Ihmisen ja tietokoneen vuorovaikutusta käsittelevä tieteellinen konferenssi CHI 2008 on antanut Tietotekniikan tutkimuslaitoksen HIIT:n kosketusnäyttötutkimukselle kunniamaininnan ja nimennyt tutkimuksesta tehdyn konferenssiartikkelin Best of CHI -ehdokkaaksi. Italian Firenzessä pidettävä CHI 2008 on alansa tärkein tapahtuma maailmassa.
